October Cookie of the Month: Double Chocolate Caramel
Double Chocolate Caramel Cookies
October calls for a cookie made for sharing.
It’s the month when we gather with friends and family to cheer on the Brewers…and the Packers, and the Badgers, and the Bucks. We settle in for a game, pass around snacks, and somehow always find room for one more cookie. It wouldn’t be Midwest Nice to reject a homemade cookie!
So October’s Cookie of the Month needed to be a crowd pleaser.
For October, I’m turning to one of my Dad’s favorites: Double Chocolate Caramel Cookies.
I’ve been experimenting with this recipe for the past couple of months, and it has quickly become one of our best sellers at the Edgerton Farmers Market. It starts with a rich chocolate cookie, featuring dark chocolate chips and flavored with caramel.
It’s chocolatey without being overwhelming, with caramel flavor throughout.
And this month brings another first for Twelve Moons Baking: it’s the first Cookie of the Month featuring chocolate chips made right down the road in Milton, Wisconsin.
October brings chocolate, caramel, baseball, football, family, friends, and plenty of reasons to share a cookie. We hope Double Chocolate Caramel becomes one of your October favorites, too.
A Wisconsin Cookie
As you know, we use Wisconsin-sourced ingredients whenever possible. I love knowing that the ingredients going into our cookies come from farms, dairies, mills, and food producers right here in our state.
October’s Double Chocolate Caramel Cookies feature:
Organic all-purpose bolted flour from Meadowlark Community Mill in Ridgeway, Wisconsin
Butter from Weyauwega Star Dairy in Weyauwega, Wisconsin
Chocolate chips from Clasen Quality Chocolate in Milton, Wisconsin
Free-range Grade A eggs from Milo’s Poultry Farms in Bonduel, Wisconsin
Vanilla from Cathy’s Pure Vanilla Extract, made by Cathy Mayr of County Line Produce just north of Madison, Wisconsin
Wisconsin products account for 55% of the ingredient costs, making these cookies Something Special from Wisconsin.
Cookies Ship Mid-Month
October Cookie of the Month boxes will ship October 17.
As a Wisconsin Cottage Bakery, Twelve Moons Baking can ship or deliver only to Wisconsin addresses.
Choose your moon phase and make October a little sweeter:
🌕 Full Moon — 18 cookies, enough to share with friends and family
🌓 Half Moon — 12 cookies to share with those closest to you
🌙 Quarter Moon — 5 or 6 cookies, or as many as we can squeeze into the box
Looking Ahead with Twelve Moons Baking
While we’re still enjoying October, my baking planner is already looking ahead to Christmas.
Pre-orders are now open for our Twelve Days of Cookies Advent Calendars!
We’ve been dreaming about these for months, and I’m hoping they become a Twelve Moons Baking tradition.
Each beautiful advent calendar has 12 windows, with two handmade wedding cake cookies behind each one. That means 24 cookies to enjoy as you count down to Christmas.
We’ve chosen twelve of our most-loved wedding cake flavors:
Pistachio • Lime Coconut • Cranberry • Cherry Cheesecake • Chocolate Caramel • Strawberry Cheesecake • Blueberry Cheesecake • Cranberry Citrus • Wisconsin Maple Butterscotch • Raspberry Vanilla • Caramel Apple • Blackberry Cheesecake
You can enjoy a cookie moment each day as Christmas approaches, and share the calendar with someone who loves cookies as much as you do. And if you’d rather keep all 24 cookies for yourself, we promise we won’t tell.
Wisconsin products account for at least half of the ingredient costs, making these cookies Something Special from Wisconsin.
Advent calendars will be delivered the first weekend in December, ready for the countdown to begin.
